WHAT IS THERAPY?

To me...

…therapy is an opportunity for change, for a shift, to do something different. It is about a journey back to yourself, to be able to connect with yourself and others and the world. It’s a space for co-creation of new experiences and exploration of new perspectives. A space to be yourself. To bring forth and endeavour to accept every part of you, even the ones you don’t like, because each and every one of them is valuable and makes you unique.

The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy says...

"Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. Your therapist will help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

A counsellor will not give you their opinions or advice or prescribe medication. They will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems."

talking helps

By exploring your internal and external world, a lot can be revealed. Whether you are feeling anxious, fearful, angry, or sad. Or perhaps you feel stuck and need clarity to make decisions. Maybe you need guidance with relationship issues or communication. Maybe you need help with a specific problem, or it may even be that you are not sure what is going on for you and you simply need a safe space to explore…therapy helps.
